Screecher

Looking at buying and having a Screecher installed on my Lightwave 38'. Would anyone know the approximate cost and installers in the Gold Coast Coomera area.

Re: Screecher

In Coomera, speak directly with Lightwave. Roger Overall and team built your boat so would be good to check in with them regarding options.

Re: Screecher

times two what Factor said. Good advise. Have know people to install screechers first and ask questions after. Big mistake and caused substantial damage to boat where they connected dolphin strikers at points not strong enough to take the strain.

Re: Screecher

Our screecher is our favourite sail, we use it more than the main. Yes, speak to Roger, he will give you very good advice.

Re: Screecher

Once you've spoken to Lightwave, and have the hardware sorted, get a quote on the sail from Gary Saxby, UK Sailmakers in Brisbane. He does excellent sails at excellent prices.

Re: Screecher

I am in the market for a Screecher as well (but am in Canada, am talking to the local Evolution sails folks... good people).

I need shopping advice. My impression originally was that a screecher is in the jib track both for dousing and tacking, in that tacks are done by rolling up, steering about, unrolling. I'm being steered to something more akin to a spinnaker, sheeted at the corners and doused with a sock. Perhaps sheeted to the windward bow, so a tack includes a douse?
