SD 50 Versus SD 60 Issues

Anyone have any experience with the SD 60? the SD 50 had a reputation for a slipping clutch at around 300 hours, I had no problems with mine in those hours however the gentleman who brought my Lagoon 400 did experience this problem at about 340 hours. Has Yanmar solved this issue on the SD 60? anybody care to comment? I did ask this question on a related thread today.
Thanks in advance.

Re: SD 50 Versus SD 60 Issues

SD50 uses cone clutches, which as you note can slip. The SD60 uses a different design. The only problems I have heard of (on this forum) are clunky engages going into fwd/aft.

My SD60 with only 130 hrs would go into forward only with a 5-8 second delay. Top of unit was removed and sent to service center. Came back and has been fine since. Was never told what they did.

Re: SD 50 Versus SD 60 Issues

Our 2011 Sd50s needed lapping at 800 and 1700 hrs. At 2700 hrs no sign of slippage but will do anyway at next service. We are very careful about changing too rapidly from forward to reverse, which in my opinion is major cause of clutch slip, especially when docking. We also run oil level half way between min and max on the dipstick. Friends had SD 60 when first released and had drive failures within 12 months - fixed under warranty. SD 60s similarly suffer from over filled oil.
