Nice boat mate, congratulations. Just hope the inverted flag doesn't prove to be a bad omen....

Hi Andrew, did you have a chance to weigh your 1160 before she was launched? It would be nice to know the 'New' weight/displacement.

Hi , best to talk to Bret in Sydney about actual weights as they use the wharf cranes on all the Seawinds when they arrive. The Crane that was used here in HCM was probable first in use when I was in Nappies,

Since the launched is now 1 additional ton of water/Fuel onbaord , plus all the stuff I have just now loaded, 1ton at least!!, however floating today in the water the boat still looks above her lines with at least 8.5 ton onboard.

We head off tonight on the early morning tides for 2 days of test sailing offshore in some light airs so will be able to give you better feedback on performance after the testing phazes are completed.

In the pics on page 5 she looked very close to the antifoul line at the bow. Was this with full tanks? 8.5t does not sound like a "lite" cat?

This is where you'll benefit from the weight saved in construction. The hulls will still have the same DWL as the original 1160, but you'll be able to carry your gear without going deeper than DWL.

Re: Seawind 1160 Lite Catamaran

48 hours of solid test sailing off the coast in the South China Sea, including a tacking marrathon at night through the full fishing fleets, thank good for 4G radar, no one uses AIS in theses waters,......

condition from 5 to 18 knots at all angles using all sails, absolutely awesome, matching wind speed while reaching with the AS and upwind performance of 5 knots in 7 knots apparent . Now about to depart to Singapore.

I am not given to jealousy.
I however did feel a strange emotion of wishing it was me on that test run.

Heartfelt congratulations for your new purchase and wishing you many years of happiness in sailing on her.

Re: Seawind 1160 Lite Catamaran

So the "design waterline" is to drag that much transom?

I see a transom well clear of the water.
