Re: Should Seawind owners see this?

One thing I got from the picture is the number of idiots standing right next to, & in the recoil path of a heavily loaded towing line. Doh!

Yep. And no damper on the tow line.
It's hard to get good help

never tried to cook damper on a tow line.

Or maybe the cat is the damper. They were towing a mono which has sunk and is in the process of dragging the poor cat down.

I always seem to forget that exact word, damper, though it's something I always use, & instruct others about. Whether they're towing vehicles (cars & trucks), or boats. And yes, I noticed it as being missing in the picture too.

Re: Damper ?

Damper: also Bushmans bread
salt, plain flour, and water kneaded into paste, wrapped around a stick, and cooked/burnt over open fire.

Any truth in the Rumour they picked up one of the " reef marker buoys in front of the Exmouth Yacht Club thinking it was a mooring, instead of paying to go in the marina next door, and the Easterlies blew up in the evening?

All good though, no one hurt and fully insured.
You're telling the story - or should I say inventing it

A headache rack would work but alas, it is missing as well.

What I think is interesting is that the cat is riding squarely. I wonder about what happened because I would have thought that the traditional for and aft watertight bulkheads would have held it up higher if the main body of the hull was breached. Does this.model feature watertight bulkheads .

I was hoping one of our West Aus CF members could clear up any mystery.
There is talk that the stern hammered on the reef pushing the rudder up through the stern, flooding the boat.

For those that don't know Exmouth Gulf, conditions go from flat calm to short steep chop and back to calm very quickly. Conditions look perfect for a tow.
Different wind and wave/swell conditions could have lead to a very different outcome regarding whether it rolled completely over.

Anyway, however the breach occurred, the vessel has settled very low in the water, reducing its chance of making a safe refuge in less than ideal conditions.

Maybe Owners need to review the WATERTIGHT bulkhead position and location in this design.

Looking at the pictures posted earlier , with Seawind owners penchant for parking on rocks this can't come soon enough

What a strange post. Absolutely no information about how you got the picture or where in the world it was taken and asking for "further information".

Then in subsequent posts you trickle out a series of factoids and rumours about the event including the exact location.

If you knew all that, why didn't you say so at the start?

FWIW, a google image search returned a hit on that picture at
https://www.facebook.com/abcnorthwes...840315891811:0

"
A 10 metre catamaran has sunk in the Exmouth Gulf after it tore its rudder on the reef and filled with water. The four occupants were not injured and the boat was able to be salvaged, Exmouth Sea Rescue Commander Rusty Ellis said.
"It appeared that it had bounced the rudder on some of the reef that was in front of the yacht club, and it had broken the rudder off and broken a big hole in the back of the boat and the water flowed in through the back of the boat," Mr Ellis said.
"We took the people off the boat, secured the boat and managed to turn it around and put it into more shallow water so that when the tide went out, it was able to stabilise it and drain some of the water out and hopefully make it a bit easier for them to plug a hole and float it back to the marina for more substantial repairs."

Fake#news, StuM. There's a lot of it about.

What really happened was that they were experimenting with adding weight to substatiate your calculations regarding stability using Marchaj's theory. ☺
