Sillette Sonic Drive Leg - Anyone fitted larger prop?

Two mechanics now have advised that prop on my sillette leg on a Prout Snowgoose is too small and costing me speed at any given revs.

Its the standard prop that Sillette supplied and nothing bigger will fit under the cavitation plate on the leg. Has anyone experimented with cutting off the stock cavitation plate and fitting a bigger prop and a new higher plate? With hundreds of Prouts using these legs and several other brands too I figure someone must have tried it??

Re: Sillette Sonic Drive Leg - Anyone fitted larger prop?

quite a few prouts either elites or snowgooses carry 2 props with slightly different pitches,a finer pitch for coastal waters and a courser pitch for ocean passages.

sorry in Thailand at the moment so cant quote exact size and pitch but think I have 12x17 and 12x19 which both work great and give about 7.6 knots with my 33hp motor on my prout elite 37ft.

not sure if it would be possible to cut out the plate and fit a bigger prop without changing/extending the drive shaft

Interesting - I have a 15 x 11 which was what Sillette supplied with the leg for my 3GM30 motor (27hp)
