That would be a good discussion. Is there a thread on CF of Skippers who have been in that situation & had to make the decision to abandon ship ? If so, could someone send me the name of the thread; often I don't find what I am looking for through the search engine. ' My bad ' Its me, not the SE

Re: Spirited 380 Lost in the Coral Sea

AFAIK not a thread dedicated to folks who have sunk etc. I think people like their own thread.....at least those who made it ashore .

Maybe try the Ronnie Simpson threads from when he turned up on CF with no idea and a big plan - to getting rescued enroute to Hawaii by a slow (cargo) boat heading to China ......last seen cycling to Europe (I think he arrived!).

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...low-19921.html - only 2 pages

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ice-20095.html - 29 pages (thread started by a mate of his).

FWIW, if you are using the search pull down menu of CF, use the "Google Custom Search". It is way way better than the other search options i.e. it actually finds stuff intelligently on CF.

Really. People like their own thread. I am thinking I'll keep a low profile & lurk about asking questions, quietly; until my original post gets lost at sea!. ,

Let's hope she can be recovered relatively intact.

That's a very accurate sounding prediction after 2 months...

Unless its actually a report, not a forecast.

Spot on

Spirited 380 Lynx was today recovered by the owner from 70+ days adrift in Coral Sea and 2 cyclones off Innisfail.

Said in CH 9 TV report tonight.

Hull in good condition.

Owner is elated.

Mr B,

You got it pretty right. Someone notified owner of its wereabouts off Innisfail. He charted an aircraft, found it within 2hrs and hired a trawler to bring it in to Innisfail jetty.

Motors are all coroded, sails RS, some damage to bow, presumably from striking the rescue ship but otherwise in fairly good condition..

A good ending.

Another multihull that didn't have the decency to sink.

Yep.

Great to hear they were able to act reasonably quickly on the position information. Could have possibly ended up on the reef. She has been bobbing around not too far off the QLD coast for some time.

To be fair to monohulls, you could argue that, abandoned in similar conditions, the story would end the same.
