Sunreef 88 Double Deck Catamaran

Saw this announced today. New launch.

What do think of this design?
------------------------------------------

SUNREEF 88 DOUBLE DECK

Sunreef Yachts is proud to announce the launch of the Sunreef 88 Double Deck – a sailing superyacht with an aggressive, sporty look. This custom-built craft demonstrates the shipyard’s expertise and creative approach to multihull design in the range over 80ft. The start of this ambitious project was officially announced during Sunreef Yachts’ press conference at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016.

The innovative Double Deck series was introduced in 2010 with the launch of the imposing Sunreef 102 Double Deck Ipharra – the world’s very first double deck sailing catamaran and at the same time one of the biggest sailing luxury multihulls ever built. All yachts in the Double Deck range feature a mezzanine level inside the saloon and a spacious master stateroom with a panoramic view in the bow part of the main deck. The innovative composite structure not only conceals generous living spaces but also allows for massive alfresco dining and lounging areas.

The Sunreef 88 Double Deck is a display of the shipyard’s non-conformist attitude and a genuine example of an avant-garde sailing catamaran concept. She puts the emphasis on luxury, performance and privacy while offering over 300m² of living space. Her layout, interior design and technical features are entirely customized and adapted to her Owner’s exact expectations. This unique catamaran is Sunreef Yachts’ sixth superyacht construction. After a series of tests and sea trials, the yacht will be on her way to meet her Owner for the maiden cruise.

A sailboat with 850 HP....

One of Bob Oram's 82' powercats has about the same size engines. Does about 30 knots too....

Are you sure this isn't a joke? There is literally a jet-ski on the sidedeck.

The Sunreefs are awesome cruising boats, we see them all the time in the Med. Wish I could afford one.

Re: Sunreef 88 Double Deck Catamaran

I am Cat/Mono neutral.

I will be happy to sail on any (Anyone need crew?).

I would own either (or both if I could).

I see this large cat as a development in large yachts.

In the past, owners of megayachts wanted either a large mono or a large motoryacht.

Now, with so many people having experienced the flat ride of a large cat, it seems logical to expect larger cats like this to be developed to appeal to those who have millions to spend and a desire for a floating, movable "condo" on the water. That is not a dig or a dismissive comment. I simply think this is the logical step or development for large mega yachts. The interior photos make it look like you are in a seaside house. Wide, open saloon. Huge panoramic views via windows and sliding glass walls.

Re: Sunreef 88 Double Deck Catamaran

Actually Steady, I'd venture to guess that nearly all the power yachts and sailing yachts over around 30 meters have stabilizers, so for them they wouldn't be switching to a cat for that reason.

Pm me your crew details as I'm frequently being asked by people if I know anyone who will crew for Med and Atlantic passages. I also have a few suggestions where you can pick up more gigs.

Hi Ken,
Thanks for that kind offer. I will send you a PM soon.

I would like to get as much experience as possible on boats of all kinds and sizes and on Mono, Cat, Sail, and Power.

Nice MOTOR-sailor In the West Indies, we see more & more charter Catamarans: The more recent, the bigger, the higher, the uglier
Also, most "charter-sailors" use their engines all the time & it's a well known advice that if you buy a former charter sailboat -Be it a cat or a monohull- you should include the replacement of engine(s) in the overall cost
Cheers!

Re: Sunreef 88 Double Deck Catamaran

As ugly as it can be, a sailing boat with 850BHP ??

AND, mainsail size at 245sqm looks wrong (I don't see a 38m mast on a 12m boom....)

Well done for the shipyard and manpower
