Thank you for the advice, will put it to work next week
My boat is 1982 SR 31. I bought her in Delaware last year from Ella Wilson. Have saile up last spring and since then sailed in Buzzards Bay Mass.Twent yeas ago i had a Searunner 25, which i bought half finished from a neighbor. Sold it a few years later got a Tremolino and after 10 years got a F24/1.Somehow i always missed my Searunner .I realy wanted a SR34 but they are very rare and seldom for sale. Love my boat. Wanna put a bowsprit on and fry a assymetric chute of a F31.So happy to have found this forum, Gerald

Great to have you all onboard. I recently discovered a webpage that will search all of craigslist (all 50 states)

Craiglook: Craigslist Search

I typed in "Trimaran" and got 40 listings. One Searunner 40'

Trimaran - 40 ft

Also this 40':

Moscan - 40ft Trimaran Searunner. Maxolar

And this 40':

Seafire

And another 40' from Mexico "Patches" who posted here a while ago.

^^ Excellent! I will without question purchase a copy of this book.

...though I hope it's available as an eBook, for my Sony Reader... I really don't need any more paper onboard!

Thanks for that Jack - great link!

For info, Maxolar sold last week I believe for $23k

I have sent a PM to the owner of Patches but he hasn't come back to me - must be on his travels. As I understand it, she is one of the few without a minikeel/centreboard so not so attractive.

Seafire is just too expensive - I can't see anyone paying anything like $80k for her, however good her condition.

I'm going to follow up on any others!

Thanks again Jack - oh, and I'm planning to GO SYNTHETIC if I manage to find the right boat!

Cheers
Cliff

There is a 46 Cross Tri in San Diego, which I viewed a while ago. It looks in good condition, lots of space. In my case it failed the skipper's aesthetics test - the interior is fine for what it is, but there in no wow factor.

There is another on in Bocas, Panama. nonchalant and one in the Bahamas 1975 Custom Norm Cross Sailing Tri-maran Commercial Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

Oddity of these boats is, you have to go outside to go from the main cabin to the master suites in the hulls, but there are two small cabins inside as well, if the bugs are too ferrocious to risk opening the door.

Maxolar

I hope Maxolar did sell. David and Audrey really wanted to move on and had a lot of bad luck with their timing. Don't stress yourself about missing too good a deal; she was worth what she sold for. There's also another 40 in Key West for 22K as of a few weeks ago.

Cliffdykes - great looking Searunner 34 for sale on Craigslist in Hawaii. (Link)

There's also this Rodriguez design on ebay in Surrey, BC.(Link)

What does it take to get a boat delivered from Hawaii to the west coast of the US?

??

He was asking $1000 less 4 months ago. I guess if you can't sell it raise the price! I know the boatyard was costing him $600/ month. Good luck.

Maxolar and SR 34 Ebay

Not much happening on the forum lately.......

For those interested SR40 Maxolar did sell to a Frenchman that makes his home in Tahiti. He supposedly has plans to sail the boat to Tahiti and departed Miami for the Bahamas the day of sale. Hope he has a lot of patch kits and duck tape! And does a serious refit somewhere in the Caribbean.

Also there is a SR 34 on Ebay. I was on this boat last month. It APPEARS to be quite nice, but the exact origin/type of plywood is unknown. He has sent me some cutout pieces for boil testing. I actually bought another boat last week, but still plan to test the plywood and post the results here for anyone interested. I'd be happy to share any other observations about that particular boat via PM.

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff,

Yes, the forum had been quiet for a while.

Thanks for the update on Maxolar.

I was just looking at the pictures of the Searunner 34, Lahaina, online earlier today. Your report on the boil test will be interesting to us all.

I met Roy Miles in San Diego a couple of weeks back and was really impressed with the work he has done on Wilderness. He has lots of user-friendly ideas for his boat that will make it very pleasurable to sail.

Lahaina??

Rann-
Which one are you calling Lahaina? The SR34 in Maui is named Ragtime (original name) and the one on Ebay is NEKKID Joy or some such redneck derivation. I have the ply samples from the one on Ebay. It will be intresting to see how his auction goes as his starting bid is already above fair market value (based on the sale price of Maxolar and the very nice A-Frame SR31 that could not bring 11K on ebay earlier this year) and the condition of the boat.
Cheers,
Jeff
