Chotu, you always come to mind when I am working with epoxy as I was last night. I don't usually comment but I do read your posts. Glad to see you getting close to sailing!

Even better news!

All of the metal work that I have been posting about is completely possible. The mast extension. The bow tube. The chain plates. All very easily done by a local guy. Thank God.

Turning on all of that stuff this week.

Ah well, my road to literary fame and fortune never materialized, but I had fun penning my memoirs.
Writing is like sailing; the journey often matters more than the destination. And it's fun, as you point out. And the experience becomes more vivid, and can then be shared with others - whether that's thousands, or just a few friends.

To Chotu - congratulations on this milestone, and thanks for sharing your journey.

Re: Trying to be unemotional, but WOW! I MAY BE SAILING SOON!

as someone that built his own boat,

when I write I say this " I built a boat"

The publisher wants you to say this " it was a warm summer's evening, the darkening clouds were scudding across the sky, steered by a stiff nor-easterly breeze from the cold waters of the Atlantic. Dressed in only tattered shorts and t-shirt, which had long seen a better life, I, with saw in one hand and a drill in the other, was bent over, lifting yet another large board of teak into place during the building of my boat"

Hurrah! Chotu, I hope you will soon be out sailing.

So glad you were able to get someone to perform your glass work and are able to stay away from the chemicals.

Enjoy.

ok, I'm hooked. What happened next?

True enough; a good writer can take several pages to describe how he made coffee this morning.

Cheers.
Paul.

Having sold my boat, and no longer sailing, I'm excited for you, Chotu. I started writing some stories while in quarantine after getting Covid, and found that I really enjoyed the process of writing stuff down. My friends have complimented me on what I've written, but publishable or not, try it. You may find that you enjoy it. Can you post a photo of your vessel, please?

Re: Trying to be unemotional, but WOW! I MAY BE SAILING SOON!

me" I splashed my boat"

what the publisher wants " for a week, my heart had been pounding in my mouth, my brains could not get a moment's peace..did I do this right...? will that weld hold?...did
I allow for this much weight ??....why was I so cheap when I ordered my sails ..?...the questions zoomed around in my head in a ever fast spinning kaleidoscope of unanswered questions.....but it was too late now...the die was cast...the crane service had been scheduled, a bottle of cheap champagne was in the cooler, ready to perform christening duties, a keg of beer purchased for the launching party...the bag of oysters ready for the grill....there was no turning back now...it could all come tumbling down in a heap of mistakes...or it would float...I knew not which one it would be.....years of blood, sweat and tears would come down to this one moment...I wanted to dig a hole in the sand for my head, yes, I wanted to witness this birth....or did I??...why hadn't I chosen to be a farmer...a 9 to 5 desk clerk...such simple life choices...why this nautical fantasy....what madness made me do it...why...why....why ????

but it floated....and the rest is history.....

Wow. Did you have him glass the other side through that one little hole as the first "test" project? Talk about a trial by fire

Awesome to see some progress forward. I'm sure this is a huge boost after all these tribulations.
