Re: Upgrading from a Lagoon 410 for a bit more pace?

If a lagoon 410 weighs 7.2 tonne in the real world as distinct from marketing I will walk backwards to Bourke. In fact I know it doesn’t. Weighed a few on lifts for surveys.

The Bali's make a great floating condo.. just do not go out in seas bigger than 1.5metres unless going downwind..
The slamming will rattle your teeth..
Great liveaboard.. not so great sea boat.

I looked up the specs real quick.

Both boats displace around 15,000 lbs.

Both boats have a similar waterline length (lagoon is a foot or so longer).

Looks like the Lagoon also has significantly more sail area (950 sqft vs. 800).

(Data from sailboatdata.com.)

I fail to see why the Seawind would be the faster boat.

I see the Lagoon displacing over 20,000lbs. and the Seawind 14,000.

Might be an idea to check what is included in the displacement figures. Some manufacturers dont include such items as anchors, chain, sails, even antifoul.
