Warranty Issues - Causes/Why?

Ok, I preface this with, I understand that nobody posts the "I had an issue and it was resolved to my satisfaction in an expeditious manner" Kind of like nobody walks into the baggage claim office at an airport to tell them what a great job they did delivering their luggage...

So, my statement and questions are:

Statement:
I see what seems to be a lot complaints with obvious warranty items that take forever to get fixed and then it seems that many fix themselves and fight to get reimbursed.

Questions:

Is this the general way of the builders doing business like insurance companies to deny/delay out of the gate?

What is general consensus on best post sale customer service for builders out there? (Lagoon, FP, Leopard, Catana/Bali)

Thanks....just thinking out loud and wondering....

Re: Warranty Issues - Causes/Why?

In a nutshell...its all over the place!
It goes a long way to know if your product is under warranty and understand the warranty t&c's; its not equal across the board. Also you need to understand what is covered in your overall warranty with the agent you purchased your new boat from i.e. in most cases they take care of all issues (parts/labour) for the first year. After that you will have product warranties for individual items but you are on your own to drive the warranty and replacement process; only in some cases in installation labor allowed for.

Some vendors will not assist and will wait for you to push the buttons. Others are more proactive and will assist. Some vendors are better at it than others and have a process for recalls and warranties established.

So owners are going to bitch about it when it doesnt go their way but after being a new boat owner (Lagoon) that is now 2years old and been thru it many times, Ive not had any major issues.
