Re: We Have No Gas Cooking Just Electric, Anyone Else Set up This Way? Thoughts???

May I ask has anyone used a multi cooker in the galley? They seem to be the next wonder system for cooking and very versatile. may of them claim to be around 1 - 1.5 kw at 240v ac so 30 amps at 48V - sounds doable to me for cooking.

I am doing up a small 26fter and am considering one of these and a portable induction cook top - both can be put away when not in use freeing up vital bench space.

I love your suggestion of using spare solar amps when not being used anywhere - if you see me showering in the cockpit at midday starkers don't stress my 3000kw electric instant hot water unit will operate best then too! (aka my 5 minute shower will cost me 20 amps @ 12v lees than I use to keep the beer cold!)

You mean like an Instant Pot type of thing? I have not used it on a boat. I used one last night at home again. I'm getting less and less enthused with it really. I cooked a pot roast last night. I could cook it in about the same time on the stove top in a big grill pan. The "instant" pot takes maybe 20 minutes to prepare itself before the timer starts to tick down. I guess it's heating up in that time. Then 35-40 minutes to cook. So about an hour. It probably should have gone a longer time as it came out a bit rubbery. It's a pressure cooker, you'd think it would be faster and more cooked. JMHO

Yes, Several threads on them here; fastest search might be to look for Instant Pot and go from there.

We use a mid-size one at home, and the smaller one on the boat. Works great. We didn't have fiddles on the boat, so couldn't easily use a stove-top pressure cooker underway... but we could place the IP in the galley sink while underway and that worked fine.
