What design is this?

Hi.

Anyone who has an idea what and who's design this is?
Any more pictures? Is the rest of the boat as interesting?

Looks a bit like a Fountaine Pajot, but doubt it.

I like the idea of how these side windows are done. Unusual and creative.

Thanks,

Thanks,!

Uhh, so to the side windows are the most interesting feature but don't blend in too well with the rest of the design (in my view that is...).

If they would not have the huge coaming on the cockpit, or at least would have "stepped" it to reduce it visually by adding a step or something it would be much nicer.
The way it is right now it looks unfortunately like it has inflated shoulder muscles.

Agree - beautiful it is not. Quite a decent reputation as a good cruising boat from what I’ve heard though. Yet another good cat builder from South Africa.

Yes it’s a Maverick from Cape Town. Odd when you first see it but grows on you. Nice beamy cat and loads of space. The factory allows you to customize a lot of features

Re: What design is this?

If the windows were flush with the hull in that area, they'd be angled and catch a lot of direct sun.
The "shoulders" look like they'd provide a bit more shade and provide indirect light, as well as the added interior space of a "bay window". I like it.

However, the aerodynamic discontinuity of the topsides means you would probably lose a full 0.0113 of a knot in speed, and point 0.043 of a degree lower to windward. (Approximately.....)

@Teleman

I guess you might have misunderstood what I meant, I actually like the unusual side windows & I get the idea behind it as well.

I just feel esthetically they could have done a better job regarding the big aft cockpit coaming. It gives the boat to much "shoulder" muscle in my eyes.
Even if there is a reason for this shoulder (like an area where they needed headroom under deck for example), they could have done a nicer job on that feature.
Usually you would break up such features with a longitudinal ridge or by adding a step on the outside. That reduces its visual impact while maintaining the features which made it a necessity.

And yes, the boat grows on you the more you look at it. It's not a bad boat.
