Nice that you took the time to say thanks. So many ask questions and then completely ignore the thread replies or leave never to be seen again.

Re: What do Leopard owners think of the forward cockpit

Hi,

We had a 44 with the front lounge and loved it. We do miss it on our 40.

The front door is a must!!! We will never buy a cat without one!!!

If you can get a later model with the island berths your Admiral will love you! I hated having to climb through the frame to get in and out of bed. The owners version is VERY HIGHLY recommended!!!!

Cheers and good luck.

I wasn't being sarcastic. It was a compliment. It was so rare to see that I noticed that you had thanked everyone for their replies. Sorry you took it the wrong way.

Re: What do Leopard owners think of the forward cockpit

We own a 2021 Leopard 45 and absolutely love our forward cockpit. We have also sailed on a number of Fountaine Pajot boats (via Tradewinds) and think the airflow sucks on the FP's in the aft cockpit (especially at dinner on a still day in the summer). On the Leopard, opening the front door allows for much more air flow. Additionally, as the boat is underway, most times there is good shade for my passengers there. At anchor, as the boat points into the wind, it is a fantastic place to spend the evening. It is also my personal opinion that, while they are all production boats, I think the build quality exceeds that of the FP or Lagoon. Leopards are spartan, but they are built like a brick shithouse compared to the others (again, my opinion).

As an engineer, I was also originally concerned about the forward cockpit and the weight distribution, so I reached out to the Naval Architect - Alex Simonis. He explained some of the design characteristics (buoyancy, reserve buoyancy, dynamic lift, etc.) that allayed my concerns.

WE LOVE OUR FORWARD COCKPIT AND WOULD NOT OWN ANOTHER CAT WITHOUT IT!
