Cat owners admitting to the possibity a Cat may be 'SLOW'.....
80's models were not popular in UK as they were open bridgedeck... to roughie toughie for 90% of Cat owners...

I've never seen an open bridgedeck Catana. The 80's Catanas I've seen have bridgedeck cabins. They used to have a great picture of one tied up to an iceberg on their old website. Very rarely on the used market.

I hope I'm not confusing boats here with my dodgey memory but I saw the Prototype Catana (UK) tied up in Poole in the 80's and it had no central cabin just a circular seating area/bradgedeck and all accomodation in the hulls.. not a pretty boat but she was fast.. I saw her sailing in Poole Bay... creamed past me in my Tiki ... 26I was going through a Cat phase (Wharram Tiki's) at the time so was very interested in what to me seemed a breakaway from the Prout/Catalc mobile homes.
Guess lack of orders brought in the cabins..

I would have loved to see that boat. Got a soft spot for open bridgedeck cats.

It's surprisingly hard to dig out Catana history.... When did Poncin buy Catana? Poncin was established in 2002 and had it listed as a subsidiary in 2005 at the time of its IPO. Did Catana go bankrupt once (in 2008 under Poncin) or in early 1990s as well?

What do 3-digit model numbers represent? Eg 58 vs 581 vs 582?
