3GM30

My boat has two 3GM30s on saildrives.

I know that Yanmar has an official spares kit, and I will have numerous oil and fuel filters, and fan belts.

What major spares would people advise for long distance cruising.

I had already considered that a spare alternator and starter would be sensible.

Re: 3GM30

Depends a bit on the age (and hours on the engines) and how well it motors on just one engine.

I would suggest water pump impellers and perhaps a complete water pump for a quick change out.

Fuel lift pump parts?
Exhaust water mixing elbow?
Spare injector?

Of course the other way to look at it is that you already have one complete spare engine installed in the other hull!

How long have you had the boat?

Re: 3GM30

I believe I carry everything from rebuild pump kits to new pumps, starter, injectors, hoses, nearly all block gaskets, all filters, and especially numerous belts. The Yanmar belts seem to wear quickly. I was advised here to get Gate belts, but I have not found them yet in Central America. Get everything you can. You never break down in a place of convenience.........i2f

Talbot, After 10 years with our saildrives, I've published some stuff you may find useful on our Saildrives page.

2000 hours/11 years for the engines

I have had her since Easter this year.

I have a spare water pump, and will have impellors. The fuel lift, impellor and spare elbow sounds like a good idea.
