3GM30F engine wire harness

Howdy All!


Working on a boat that had an electrical issue with alternator that fried the positive & ground wiring on the harness. Looking to replace the engine wire harness but was wondering if anyone had any idea what the difference was between part numbers: 128271-77921 (white round plugs) and the new part number 128271-77923 (square plugs) -- I am thinking of just splicing the the square plugs that are still intact to the 128271-77921 following the yanmar wire color coding. Any thoughts? A new XX-77923 harness is damn expensive.

Re-thinking the electrical issue. Installed new harness I can bump the starter but getting sparks at battery so no start. Double checked the wiring and all looks good. Don't want to destroy a battery or burn up a harness. Anythoughts? Attached is pic with the wires in question in yellow (just the red pos. & black neg/ground)
