Re: 4108 perkins rear main leak :/

I own a Nicholson 35 with a Perkins 4-108 which I purchased new 41 years ago. Engine has 8000 hours on it and other than oil and filter changes, valve adjustments and water pump maintenance, no other work has been done. Engine leaks only a few ounces of oil between oil changes done at 100 hours. With respect to the seals, have I just been lucky. Cruising range is 1800 to 2100 rpms with a hydraulic drive which is quite inefficient.
