Re: Acetone Blended Gasoline and Diesel

Acetone has a ton of oxygen in it by mass vs gasoline. I would guess that it may provide a small improvement in efficiency. However, it's maybe 5-10x the cost of gasoline. I'm not sure if the improvement would offset the cost of the acetone.

the acetone is an effectual corrosive to rubber and plastic; when the acetone comes into contact with any rubber/plastic fuel system components, they will be dissolved away, which leads to extensive repairs/replace/damage of such components.
This is a bit of an exaggeration... do note that acetone is commonly sold in plastic bottles which sit for long periods on shelves around the world.

It is true that acetone attacks SOME plastics, but surely not all, and a little research or experimentation will outline any issues in ones fuel system.
