Advice for maintaining belt tension

I have a Yanmar 3YM30 on my sailboat.
Lately I find that I need to readjust the belt tension more frequently than in the past.

Any advice on what I should look for?

Is there any role for something like loctite to keep the adjustment bolts in place?

Thanks for any guidance.

Re: Advice for maintaining belt tension

Ramron,
I have a 3GM30F and also find we have to adjust the belt tension often (and I've been frustrated that it's remarkably imprecise).

I read somewhere that using something like this would be the way to go:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074RZX8HD...v_ov_lig_dp_it

However, I haven't yet pulled the trigger on this project since it will require me to modify the alternator bracket.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Re: Advice for maintaining belt tension

It would be interesting to know whether the belt was stretching or the adjuster slipping. Perhaps a mark on the adjuster would be useful.

(we don't put a ton of hours on our 3GM30 but no issues with this as yet)
