Thanks to all for your thoughtful answers. I like to do a sanity check now and then. I have now 300 hours runtime to consider my next step.
Some of my answers are thoughtless. I use teflon tape and have no leaks. The plumbing is soldered copper pipe. The flexible hose is rated for motor oil. My transmissions use 50w motor oil. They are old manual ones but with air shifting.

I will have to investigate if the ATF I'm using is suitable for PTFE tape I would usually use for this. But I still like the idea of tapping the existing plug instead of replacing it entirely.

It will be, Teflon is almost impervious to most things, I really don't know what it's not.
