Atomic 4 new fuel lines

Hi all,
So my atomic 4 fuel lines are clogged especially the one coming from the tank. I was thinking of either trying to clean them or run all new lines. Can I use flexible " car type" fuel lines or does it have to be brass? Also what's the best way to clean up my tank.
Thank you

I don't see any problem with automotive fuel linee, but you will want to secure them so you don't have chafing. I am told sea foam will break loose stuff in the tank, but a solvent for gas tanks should work fine. Then flush, flush, flush. An electric fuel pump on the outlet line makes flushing easier.

I assumed the fuel tank is stainless, but should have asked before recommending a solvent. If it's aluminum be careful of the solvent

A1-10 rated fuel line will meet ABYC and USCG specs. May as well use the right stuff.

If you can get the tank out a radiator repair shop can clean it. Or use a pressure washer and soap like Simple Green.

Re: Atomic 4 new fuel lines

I just finished delivering a Sail boat from San Francisco to San Diego, with a new rebuilt Atomic 4, had fuel problem's all the way down, due to debris in the tank [very small], kept changing filter's, one time, tore down carburetor, blew out all the jet's, and re installed, good little engine, very quiet, need a GOOD exaust blower for sure.

Soft copper works great for most the runs, benders are cheap. But you can use rubber if you want.

For God’s sake yes. It’s bad enough when guys with Diesels want to use that cheap auto stuff, but for gasoline below decks, it’s insane.

A gas motor can be very safe, but you do have to do things right to make it so.

Re: Atomic 4 new fuel lines

It is a bit Belts and suspenders but I usually use flex line but I install it in ordinary household rigid plastic electric Conduit . It is then safe from a stove or an anchor or sumat breaking loose in a blow and cutting your fuel line. It is cheap easy to use and safe . you can buy copper U clips to screw ir down or a small Fiberglass tab, Good luck Mike Pope A shutoff cock at the tank outlet and a small filter with a plastic pail fitted under it is worth the space when you get crud in the tank , MP
