best battery connector for electric outboard in tender

I have a torqeedo cruise 4.0 for a 3m RIB tender and it came with an anderson connector, which has no waterproofing. Unsurprisingly it didn't last long, and was soon destroyed by electrolysis. What was surprising to me was the speed that the electrolysis ate through metal.

I upgraded the connector to one of these electric vehicle ones, 150A rated and IP67 level protection, which was a big improvement but still, it's using aluminium conductors and really something like gold plated brass would last a lot longer in the harsh marine environment.

Wondering if anyone out there has a better solution?

Hmmm. Don't know anything better. Maybe approach the problem from why the Anderson connectors failed. They are common. Electrolysis? Are they getting into seawater? Perhaps the issue is exposure of your connectors to water. Could you better protect the connector? Move it to a place shielded from spray?

Another approach is conductive grease. It's expensive and very messy, but protects terminals.

I'm still bothered by this failure. I have an Anderson connector on my foredeck; it gets a lot of spray, but cleaning the terminals with a small wire brush works and I've not had to replace the connector in ten years. Why did yours go from superficial corrosion to failure? I can't come up with an answer for that.

They must have been Anderson knock-offs. Genuine Anderson connectors have silver contacts and should last a while. Use dielectric grease to protect the contacts.
