Best engine under $10k

Hi guys,
We are looking at getting a new engine for our 30foot Halvorsen wooden cruiser, and we are after thoughts on the best one.
We currently have an old Yanmar, but it is getting a bit past it.
I'd like something around 40 to 50hp, has to be quiet and I'd like it to be under $10k Australian.
Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Post some Halvo photos and I'll offer some advice.

Ah, bugger it. I shouldn't be looking at Halvo's particulary the 30 foot variety. It will set my therapy back by years.

Isuzu for sure.

But seriously, the Isuzu in that size is whisper quiet and smooth. Probably price will be tight, but you might get lucky.

Dad has the Yanmar (he's on the lakes with you) and it's pretty good but not as good as the Isuzu.

Well, I was kinda close, half way between the two.

Dad is over on Banksia Peninsula, or Duck Arm as it is sometimes known.

Re: Best engine under $10k

Dunno about price but the Beta range of engines are hard to beat IMO. I have always had Yanmar (mostly) but I would get a new Beta in a heartbeat.

Based on Kubota industrial engines and very well thought out ancillary marine items. Parts are easy to find. And they are red .

Re: Best engine under $10k

Beta will also supply custom mounts to match your existing engine mounts / bed.

Keep an eye on Gumtree for a new motor. I picked up a new 20hp Yanmar 2GMF for $4000. It had been sitting in a guys shed for years.
Cheers
