Re: beta 38 white exhaust smoke

Your white smoke may be water vapor [ steam ]. Check that the raw water system is pumping sufficient water. If that water lingers too long in the system, or is of insufficient volume, it overheats and you get the symptoms described.

Be sure the c-cock is fully open and the thru hull is not clogged with barnacles.
All hoses between the ocean and raw water pump must be of wire wound construction, or they may collapse under suction. Check the raw water strainer for debris and that the gasket is sealing properly. When was the raw water pump last rebuilt? Check the heat exchanger core for restrictions, ditto for the exhaust elbow. Joe - Beta Marine dealer

Off white, grey ...ish smoke could be unburned fuel

Re: beta 38 white exhaust smoke

Hi, so checked the water flow as found out it should be 10 liters per min and mine is no where near that so checked everything from inlet till i got to the exhaust elbow, i took this off and blew down the water pipe and i could barely put wind threw it so cleaning that up now and filing down the weld splatter on the inside which does not help matter and will give that a go.
