BG Velvet Drive not getting to neutral

Have a Velvet Drive Transmission CR2 / Drop Center Model: 10-14-000-005 that I replaced a couple years ago. Also replaced the Drive plate at the same time.
I’m noticing now that though I have to be in Neutral to start the engine (Perkins 4.236), when running, the transmission rotates and doesn’t freely stop in idle. It’s either forward or reverse, no matter how slowly I nudge the thruster cable to find neutral. Any recommendations on how or if possible to DYI adjust? Or is this better left to the professionals.

My drive sometimes turns when in neutral - but with little or no force. You can stop it easily, and it is a bit slower than when in gear.

If not as simple as that, then I have had a good experience with Hale Marine. Probably worth a call to ask them. They seem to really know their stuff re Velvet drives. https://www.halemarine.com/en

Thanks, Ill check out Hale Marine.

The prop shaft isn’t rotating idly; I can’t rotate by hand nor stop it spinning (tho it is slowly rotating)

Re: BG Velvet Drive not getting to neutral

One possible check for a simple solution: If you remove the cable and shift using the tab on the transmission only, perhaps with a locking pliers on the tab for leverage, can you find true neutral? It's possible, if not too likely, that you have a cable problem.

Good luck with it.
