Re: Bukh DV20 and DV10 cooling system explained

Just wanted to make sure I understood properly. I currently have two hoses going to input of engine. One is from the water pump and the other is to the thermostat. Just to be clear I am putting a y spitter on the output of my centrifugal pump and attaching both of these to the input of engine block. Essentially sendin all water into block. Then I'm coming out of thermostat output that goes into exhaust elbow and sending that back to bucket. Does the exhaust manifold get any water directly inside of it. Any chance water can enter the exhaust valves and hydro lock my engine? Or is the water kept in intact own channels through the thermostat and into exhaust elbow down stream of the main body of exhaust manifold? Sorry if this is a stupid question. Boat is a 1984 contessa 32. And this engine has been solid and it looks mostly cared for from previous owners. Also do you repaint where you chip paint after doing all this taking off of parts?

Re: Bukh DV20 and DV10 cooling system explained

Nuku- thx for all the info. I have a DV20 on my old Swan 371 in Miami. The engine stopped as if running out of fuel. Fuel is 5+ y old. I replace the fuel filters (engine and water separator) filled water separator with fresh fuel, engine runs perfectly. It will not pull fuel from the tank. Bad fuel pump? Do I need to prime the fuel line from tank to water separator filter?
