Bukh saildrive slipping

So, the BUKH saildrive on my BUKH DV36 SME keeps slipping. With low RPM, it usually falls back into gear after some time or after i throttle back. Is it fair to assume that this is caused by the clutch or could it be something else?

Would like to know what my options are to fix this. No luck finding a mechanic knowledgeable about BUKH engines near me so far (Northeast US). Trying to find spare parts online seems to be impossible as well.

How difficult would it be to use a more widely used saildrive from a different manufacturer (Volvo, Yanmar, Beta ..) and fit somehow on my Bukh engine? Are there adapters for this?

Appreciate any insights.

Thanks,
Andy

Re: Bukh saildrive slipping

It seems that it is more usual to substitute a Beta engine adapted to a BUKH saildrive than the other way around. But, here are a couple of starting points for finding a solution, first, BUKH itself in the UK

Then, Beta's take on it:

Then, one conversation about it:

I'm inclined to think, without knowing just how much frustration you have faced, that major surgery on your system may be premature. I suspect that a conversation with the BUKH folks will steer you toward a repair for the saildrive.

Bets of luck with it.
