challenging project

Hi all, I'm back here in Puerto Chiapas MX trying to salvage our Choate 40. In my checked luggage I brought liners, pistons and heads for the venerable Volvo MD-11C. But it's not enough. I'm going to need to do a crank rebuild too. Can you imagine? What I'm asking is that all you proud CF'ers look in your shop, ask your friends, help me to round up the parts for this beautiful example of Swedish history. And send good thoughts. Thanks, Don

Re: challenging project

Sir, it may be possible that you underrate Mexican mechanics. They are people who understand how to do things when almost nothing is available. Look to them for immediate, meaningful help. Almost anything you need can be fabricated, or found.

Re: challenging project

Thank you Ann, I have the highest regard for the local mechanics. But bearing shells are difficult to fabricate.
