Clogged Fuel Vent

I’ve got a clogged fuel vent that I can’t get opened. I can’t see anything below deck so I don’t know the configuration but I think it is a 90 degree angle. I’ve tried small wire brushes, tie wraps, and other small flexible pieces. I’ve also tried 60 lbs of air pressure but I can’t get a good seal. Anything else I could try?

Re: Clogged Fuel Vent

Cut off at the tank and install new vent line to same outlet or a new location.

Well.... no access would be unusual ... mud daubers build nests in the vent fitting and hose. (dont ask how I know!) If you poke wires in there and break it up guess where it may end up eventually? in you tank!

Clogged Fuel Vent

When I bought my boat, all three vents were clogged with mud daubers.
In my case I could get the hose off of the vent end, and used pressurized water to clear them, it took awhile, but in a minute or so the water was absorbed by the mud and blew out.
On delivery, I had to remove a plug in the fuel tank meant to be for a generator fuel return so that air could come out of the tank to fuel it.
The waste tank, once it stopped being sucked out, you would remove the hose and hear it suck in air, then go at it again, took there or four cycles to empty it.

Are you saying that you have no access to fittings on a 42’ krogen?

Re: Clogged Fuel Vent

Had same issue, I used a vacuum cleaner and a thin plastic tube taped to the vac
then sprayed some fuel into the line to help soften it and then suck, repeat many times until it clears, I have even pressurised the tank to try and stop the mud dropping into the fuel, but wetting it (let it soak in)and sucking is what I have done

my line was 1/2 inch most are larger when clean put a mesh cover on the vent

Re: Clogged Fuel Vent

The tanks (4) in my 30 year old Krogen were replaced 20 years ago. I also have twin Lehman’s taking up room.

Re: Clogged Fuel Vent - fixed

I used caulking material to seal my air nozzle around the vent and the air pressure opened it up.
