Coolant temperature gauge on Volvo Penta D2-75 (or D2-55)

I would like to install a coolant temperature gauge. Is this the bolt you can remove in order to add a sensor that will send the data to the gauge?
Thanks

You could install an engine gateway and get the data on your chart plotter. You will get temperature, rpm, engine hours, voltage, but not oil pressure.

That looks interesting, though I already have elsewhere rpm, engine hours and voltage. Does it indeed show flow rate too or you need to connect other little gadgets for this? Any idea? Thanks

No flow rate, just temperature. I like having all the info on chartplotter, so it was worth it for me. You can apparently change the oil pressure sending unit and get oil pressure, but I haven't done that.

Yes. That's where the temp sensor goes.

Re: Coolant temperature gauge on Volvo Penta D2-75 (or D2-55)

It depends on the vintage of your engine.

If your engine is a later model MDI electrical system engine ( start/stop button panel with LED tach and MDI box on the engine), then you don’t have to install anything on the engine, it’s already there. Just buy a VP temp gauge and daisy chain the gauge to the existing tachometer and you’re set to go.

If you have an earlier model D2-75 without the MDI system, then yes, that’s where the temp sender is installed. There should be a light brown wire tucked into the engine wiring harness to connect to the sender, and it will run to the instrument panel thru he existing engine harness.

volvo penta d2-55 75
you have a free post for water temperature sensor 4-7 cm long
search Temperature Sensor Sender M18*1.5 Thread 40-120°C
and gauge in range 40-120
Best is the Chinese KUS sensor and gauge, but is price bigger
