Cooper 54 Engine Replacement

Hi, I'm about to replace the engine (Perkins T6.354) in my 1980 Cooper Maple Leaf 54.

My question is about getting the old engine out and the new one in!

There is what appears to be a hatch plate in the cockpit floor. However, it is seriously sealed/caulked in place with some material with the hardness of epoxy. Also, I will need to tear out the engine room overhead to get at the bottom side.

Any chance that any of you members might have any experience at removing this plate? Or getting the engine out of a Cooper 54.

I would like to confirm that this plate is an "engine hatch" before I tear things apart.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

GE
