Did I ruin my engine?

So…. Smh engine turns over but will not start. Let me explain day one with my new fairly cheap first sailboat and…. ran aground… reversed out of it… few mins later smoking engine and stuffing box leak!!! Facepalm. So… not sure if I’ve just destroyed the engine or what. The engine turns over but still will not start. It’s a 2qm20H any suggestions?

So far the mechanics are scratching their heads… and I’ve tried bleeding the lines to make sure theres no air.

Sounds like over heated.
Are you sure it wasn't the exhaust muffler/water lock that was 'smoking', rather than the stuffing box. They're designed to melt in the event of an overheat. The idea being that the they're cheap replaceable items compared to other engine parts.
And if so the exhaust may be blocked.
Just a guess, I wasn't there.
