difference between TMD22A ,TMD22B, TMD22P-B, TMD22P-C

I have a VP TMD22 engine , but trying to put together a spares list I run into some problems , for instance fuel and oil filters are different between the A and B version of the TMD22


does anyone know how I can identify which engine I have ? the label just says 'TMD22'

I assume your have a TMD22, as stated on your engine's ID tag. Likely it was produced before subsequent variants of the engine, the 'A' being added later to distinguish them from each other (though logically 'A' would be the first variation after the original...)

More practically, short of talking to a knowledgeable Volvo rep, you can reverse cross-reference the engine by comparing the part numbers you have now against those shown in the Volvo parts manual.

I have just learned that the main (easy to spot) difference between the A and the B is that the B has a belt driven seawater pump (which I have)



So this is a TMD22-B version

They were built between 1997 and 2006
