Dummy Lights - Which should Be On? Yanmar 4JH4

When I turn the key to the on position, the port engine both Temp and Oil warning lights come on and then go off when the engine is turned on.

On the starboard engine, only the oil light comes on when in key on position. Goes off when running.

Are these lights in the on position telling me the alarm and sensors are working for that light and if they don’t come on then something is wrong?_steve

Yes.

Obviously, if the engine is not running there is no oil pressure, so the light should be on. The temperature idiot light comes on to let you know it is working. If it is not one, the likely guess is the light is bad.
