Electric Drives for local day-sailing

We do very short-range sailing in Mission Bay, San Diego and a little in the ocean along the coast (when we get under the bridge at low tides). We plan to replace an 18hp Perkins Diesel on our Catalina 270 with a 5KW Thunderstruck electric drive with a 196Ah 48V AGM battery pack. We use our boat for day sailing in San Diego with months' periods of no use. Interested in any thoughts from those that might have converted to electric - or have knowledge about these systems.
