Electric outboards

I am looking to putting an electric outboard on my 17ft noreasterDory (CLC). Possibly building a stern box into the hull. Is there any views out there for the best performing, most reliable. Preferably switchable battery pack for double range etc. This will be my tender.

Re: Electric outboards

I use a Newport Vessels, 55# thrust on a 10' Livingston. Motor cost about $200 on Amazon. I haven't traveled distances, but use it as a utility boat around my dock. It makes about 7-8 knots. I use the terminals shown on Amazon for about $7. It makes switching between batteries easy. I've been using a standard car battery for about 4 years, but I don't draw it way down.
I now chain my motor to the boat. I had 2 stolen.

Check out the YouTube channel Sailing Soulianis. They just released a video where they took delivery. I am interested too.
