Engine monitoring systems

We've had our engine (Perkins 4.154) rebuilt. About to put it back in the hull.

An Aqualarm system had been installed, back then. Parts are worn (display partly broken, a couple of false positives, etc.) So we either replace or go without.

Aqualarm still sells a very similar unit. (Oil pressure, water flow, engine temperature, bilge). But I was surprised by the fact that there doesn't seem to be anyone else manufacturing something similar. And chandlers don't carry these systems.

So. Maybe the previous owner over did it and boats don't really need these alarms.

Or maybe I haven't looked where I should have.

Do you have a monitoring system on your boat?

Re: Engine monitoring systems

Water flow: I see&hear what is spewed out by the engine. For the temp and oil pressure I have the Yanmar idiot lights. But I have to admit that I would prefer an oil pressure and temp gauge. Will install these some day in the future.
For the bilge I have installed a simple alarm on the bilge pump.

They make an engine monitoring system. It’s customizable. Have one of these in my 4x4, saved the engine twice already.
