Ford Lehman Mechanic

Anyone know of a good Lehman mechanic in the Great Lakes area? I have a Lehman 90 on a 46' sailboat that needs attention.

Perhaps someone who works on older Grand Banks that run the Lehman twins?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ford Lehmans have been put in a LOT of boats for more than 20 years. It would be hard to think any good desiel mechanic couldn't do the job. They are not that special. Finding a good mechanic is mostly asking around and checking references.

You really want one within an hour of your boat. Most will charge travel time if they are any good. The best mechanics I've ever used did not work for a marina but were independant. Some of the worst ones I know of work for a marina. The "Great Lakes area" is pretty big.

One would think so. However, my experience with the local yard would indicate otherwise.

To your valid point of being more location specific, I am in the Chicago area.

American Diesel

Contact these folks: http://www.americandieselcorp.com/

Bob Smith is the owner. He was President of the Lehman division of Ford. I'm certain that they can give you some names. I have called them numerous times asking questions about our SP90 and they are extremely helpful.

They also carry replacement parts for the Lehmans!!!!
