Freewheeling a Paragon Trans

Crew
First, an apology. I'm sure this subject has been brought up before, but I'm a bit dumbass at searching. some direction would be appreciated.
I have a Paragon 400 series hydraulic transmission behind my Perkins 4.236 in the new "Clarity". The original owner was happy for it to freewheel under sail; I have heard that might not be a good idea. Should i install a shaft lock, or continue to allow the shaft to spin under sail. Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Cheers. Bill

I have heard.....

I have heard that hydrolic trannies should not be aloud to free wheel, but I think it depends on make and model. Some have the oil pump dependent on the motion of the input shaft, but hopefully someone with more knowlage of Paragon gearboxes will chime in.

Sorry this doesn't help.
