Fresh Water Flush for a Yanmar 53HP

Hello Everyone,

English is not my first language, so please forgive me for language errors

appreciating your advise on installing a fresh water flushing to a Yanmar engine, its 52HP. I want to do this to flush sea water every once a while.

The questions I have are:

1) is it worth the trouble and would it extend engine life?

2) if yes, whats the best connection:

2.1 is it better to connect fresh water supply at engine sea water intake while closing the sea water inlet or

2.2 do reverse flush after removing the impeller?

3) Any additives that can be used in this process?

4) is there any ready made products for such use?

Thank you for your time.

NEVER connect your wall water directly to the sea water inlet. If the flow is higher then what the exhaust elbow is capable of expunsing you will flood your cylinders via the exhaust valves.

Always let the engine suck what it needs from a bucket that you fill!

I do not think it a worthwhile project.
Risk is there, with little reward. If a fresh water cooled engine, only the heat exchanger ever gets salt water in it, not the engine.
