Fuel tank leak

very minor leak from inspection port.

Tried to open but it is budging, thinking leaving it and using a sealer.

But what can I use with diesel for sealant

Re: Fuel tank leak

My advice would be to put several heavy coats of wax on the bung (so that epoxy won't stick). Then make a dam around it with modeling clay. Fill with epoxy mixed with colloidal silica until moderately thickened, 1/4" deep at a time, allowing the epoxy to start to cure between pours so it does not overheat, then finish off by setting a 36" long 2x4 on fresh epoxy. Allow time for a full cure, and then you have a reusable wrench with a three-point head to turn the bung.

If the tank is ABS, you can use ABS cement to seal the bung, however this will complicate future removal.

Re: Fuel tank leak

How, exactly, are you trying to remove it?

EDIT: Here, check this thread out. Also, I believe the word he means is "Polyform"

You bet... if you can't find the spanner wrench for that access cover, the next best thing is to make one either out of wood or maybe the stuff they mention in that thread.
That access cover should be able to be removed.

Excellent. Jammer has a great suggestion.

Would you like to share how you managed to remove the inspection port?

Re: Fuel tank leak

I use channel locks on mine.
Just open the jaws on the channel lock to the same width as one of the arms...you'll have plenty of leverage

Re: Fuel tank leak

My plug/tank edge was thick enough so that I could drill and tap some small 3/16" s/s panhead screws around the perimeter of the plug after sealing it. Each panhead screw was also dipped in sealant prior to tightening.
You can't over tighten them, but you can get enough pressure on them to seal the plug.
