Heat Exchanger

I need to replace the tube bundle ( 868 mm long and 83.75 mm in diameter ) on the fresh water engine cooling heat exchanger which is of my Renault Marine couach ( or SAVIEM 797)engine. Where would I be able to have it made ?

Hi Gringo41
How bad is the old tube bundle? They can be repaired or re tubed. There are 2 good mechanics in Langkawi, Robbie and Andrew, 019 5058393, they can maybe either fix it or they might know where to find a second hand one. Good luck.

Re: Heat Exchanger

Hi Skipperpete
Thanks for the info. The tube bundle is 42 years old , still looks good but one out of the 55 tubes is leaking I will close it off, waiting for a quote from the USA to have a new bundle made to fit the existing housing and connections.

Re: Heat Exchanger

You can buy tube extractors and rolling devices to install new tubes if it is one of the older type exchangers. Rifle cleaning brushes do a good job of cleaning out the bores and you can see if they are corroded by looking down the tubes with a strong light at the other end.

Thank you RaymondR I will look in to where one can get extractors and rolling devices, I like the idea of using a rifle cleaning brush will shop for that.
