Hurth HBW50 Parts / Lock in Gear ?

dont you just hate the smell of frying clutch?

Problem: HBW50 on Vetus ML10. Clutch plates are burnt out. Oil black, reverse but no forward
Worse problem: broke and have a 400 mile ICW run to get home.

Any tricks to jam this thing in gear and get out the nearest inlet(Ft Pierce )?
Or,
Where can i get just the plates not the entire rebuild kit? is it even doable by all thumbs me? yeah, i know bad idea. but then, so was this whole trip.

You can interchange reverse disks and front disks. Make sure you flip the (I don't know the name) inside shifter. It's a huge three parts ring mounted with springs and ball bearings. Don't have to open that shifter... juste flip it. I had the same problem and did more than 70 hours on my tranny eversince.

I have a new rebuild kit fpr a HBW5 which be the same for a HBW50. I am checking that out with Foley Marine. They are one of the largest Hurth dealers around. I will get back to yo on Monday. If it is the same I will sell it for $85.00 USD and I will sell the HBW5 I have for $300USD plus shipping within the Continental USA.
