Hydraulic or mechanical gearbox on 50 ft sailing catamaran ?
Appreciate your advice - we're building a new 50ft sailing catamaran and are considering twin Yanmar 4JH80 diesels. We plan to use only one engine at a time other than when maneuvering.
Gearbox choices are KZ25A hydraulic of KKZ30M mechanical.
We will have Maxprops.
What are the pros and cons for this application?
