GO SABRE!!
Much respect! I had it much easier replacing an Atomic 4 with a Yanmar 1gm10... I only had to widen the rails atop the stringers and because the 1 cylanders bounce around a bit I had to beef up the structural support and the tie in to the hull. Cleaning the glass properly for the re-build was the most tedious part of the whole business.

Tis a thing of beauty. I'm jealous. At least for now. Mines supposedly going to ship on August 5th.

Just one question? I see the lifting lug on the aft end of the head, but wheres the front one?

So far I'm not getting anywhere. Its been so damn hot that people are pegging out with heat exhaustion. Lady I work with came in today, sat down at her desk, turned to her waste basket n was sick for 5 minutes. Heat. I went down to the club shop yesterday just after midnight and got the parts and acrylic for the AC unit cut out but just couldn't manage to get there today. I'm off Thursday and Friday, going to try n get it done then. Maybe wait til midnight again. Once its in I should be jake.

Sabre,

The second lift point is under the tag at the top of the photo.

I hear you on the heat! The worst part is with our boat on the hard its like getting into a car that's been in the sun all day. No water buffer to shield us from some of the sun's heat output.

Re: I'm Committed Now . . .

Do yourself a favor. Grab a couple of poles, make bases out of some 2x4 and place one on either side of the car at the passenger area. Then lash an plastic tarp over the car and secure the corners to the bumpers. Secure the tops of the poles to something on either side so they don't fall over or fit a ridge pole. IF it looks to be windy, use a few more lines.

At the end of the day, disassemble and leave the poles chained to the fence. Heck they should fit into the car on a diagonal. Tell Dani to duck.

It will make a serious difference. I discovered this when I was living in AZ and didn't have a parking space under the car port. You could literally fry eggs on a baking tray left on the front seat of my silver pickup truck. . we tried it one day. Very tasty. ..... The awning rig was built next day.

Glad you enjoyed it. We seem to field more traffic from our burning man journals from years ago than we do all of our boat related blog posting. I guess we're more interesting when we wear fancy hats.

Re: I'm Committed Now . . .

I get more hits on my post about squalls during the 2010 Lake Ontario 300 and "Safety at Sea" than anything else. I think some people enjoy the worst-case scenario aspect of mucking around with boats.

I concur about the heat. Steel boats on land with their insulation removed for access purposes are essentially shipping containers in the tropics.

Re: I'm Committed Now . . .

Got the shipping notice yesterday. Bit of a panic as the invoice said it was being shipped to Vancouver.......I'm in Toronto. Anyway, turns out the factory goofed on the invoice but the shipper (DHL) house air waybill shows the engine is destined for Toronto.

Should be arriving tomorrow at 1500, so I should get the advice notice on Thursday to clear it through Canada Customs.

Still haven't got anything more done, steaming hot and the AC isn't cutting it. I'm going to lift the engine up on deck with the forklift and see if I can get it below deck and just park it in the main cabin till I get the engine out and the rest of it done. With the heat and humidity, looks like September before I can get moving again.

On the other hand, the spit kit is finally in the water so I can go sailing in the mean time.
