informed opinions on Daewoo motor

Any general informed opinions about Daewoo 180 HP diesel motors for a trawler? Reliability? Parts availability? Proprietary tools required? Etc.?

I'm accustomed to my old Perkins and am wondering in general terms if the Daewoo is as straightforward and forgiving as my Perkins.

I guess that’s an L066 and Daewoo have been making engines successfully for a long time… now known as Doosan Daewoo. If you were considering the electronic common rail Doosan my response would be negative, we had some of that type on small korean drill rigs and one of em failed but not because it was badly built, they all got a flogging and only one bit the dust. I reckon that Daewoo 180hp with mechanical injection’s a good replacement for an old perkins or a ford Lehman. Are you considering a korean reduction gear as well?

if you buy new engine and need part in first 15000 hours run don't buy this engine..
but if i live in USA Alaska i buy CAT C4.4
