Re: Inline strainer between Raw Water pump and Heat Exchanger?

The strainer downstream of the pump is a great idea, and will collect all that moves that way, but contrary to what you’d think, not all impeller debris will migrate downstream.
I’ve tracked down more than one “mystery overheating” problem that turned out to be impeller bits that were on the intake side between the sea strainer and the pump intake grating. They’ll usually lie in the low part of the hose, but when you rev it up and the water is really moving, they’ll block the pump intake.
