Md2030 water pump oil leak

I’ve noticed a small leak ( about half a teaspoon an hour ) that started in the last day or so it looks like it’s coming from the join between the gear based water pump and the engine body.

I’m not familiar with these particular engines but it seems simple. Is it just a conventional seal. There seems to four bolts holding the assembly on.

Thanks

Dave

Re: Md2030 water pump oil leak

Yes -- but...

Typically there's an oring sealing that joint, p/n 3580380-3, maybe the bolts and nuts (it uses both, you'll see what I mean when you disassemble it) are loose, but to remove the pump, 1 or 2 of the bolts that have to be loosened are trapped behind the engine mount bracket, which may have to removed or loosened.

Can't remember for sure, but on my 2020, I may have drilled out the threads on the pump body and installed longer bolts and nuts, so that I can just hold the bolt on the engine block side and remove the nuts, rather than fight with that damn engine mount bracket.

You may be able to modify a wrench or use some sort of flexible extension to access them on the 2030, but I wouldn't bet on it.
