Talking Miami - Perkins 4-108 Finally found an honest Guru

Group
Usually we read of horror stories on rebuilt projects for our old diesel engines. I just wanted to share with you a good story for a change.

Moderator - if you find this inappropriate, please just delete my post.

In South Florida is hard to find an honest mechanic. Due to illness I left my CAL39 in the mooring for over 3 years without starting the engine. When I got better I tried to start the engine with no avail. I brought in 3 mechanics and all told me this was a $4K+ to $5K+ rebuilt job....and all wanted to yank out the engine out of the boat

I finally found a diesel injector specialist that worked on the boat, was very transparent in his diagnostic steps, and $2,500 later the engine has never run smoother than the last 20 years - he himself rebuilt the injectors, lift pump, centrifugal pump - wow - very good work. I wonder if it is OK to share his contact. Turns out the guy fled a communist government in Venezuela and used to have a big diesel rebuilt shop there, and got tired of the death treats so he starting new with a mobile service.

For those of you jumping into the Caribbean from Miami and may have issues, I definite recommend him ( I have no personal gain)
His name is Frank, cell is 786-991-6487
Company is Diesel Injection Experts
